Curriculum

CCA curriculum is grounded on the absolute truth of God’s Word and on instilling an uncompromising Biblical worldview in our students. For CCA, the most important curriculum is the teachers, the living curriculum. CCA only hires teachers who are devoted to the Lord Jesus Christ and whose lives are founded upon the truth of God’s Word. Thus, CCA takes hiring teachers very seriously. Teachers at CCA went through a rigorous application and interview process.

To aid our teachers in the teaching and learning process, CCA leadership has selected Christian-published textbooks that promote academic excellence and are infused with Biblical principles. While textbooks are an important resource for teachers and students, they are only one aspect of a comprehensive academic program.

Academic Subjects

BIBLE
The Bible is taught as the inspired Word of God and forms the foundation of every subject taught at CCA. Elementary students will study the Bible sequentially from Old to New Testament, discovering and applying Biblical truths to their lives and the world around them. Middle school students will continue the development of a solid Biblical worldview by critically examining alternate worldviews and learning to defend their faith. Through the study of God’s Word, students will relentlessly pursue truth, discerning it from falsehood and articulating the truth of who Jesus is. Students will be faithful Christ worshipers who possess an active and growing relationship with Jesus, follow Jesus, and regularly engage in spiritual disciplines. Demonstrating love and a life of service to Christ, students will use their gifts in response to God’s calling on their lives, serving joyfully and sharing the Gospel for the advancement of God’s kingdom.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS
The study of English through a Biblical worldview allows students to communicate effectively, discern values, and articulate truth. Elementary students will build a solid foundation of phonemic awareness during both guided and independent practice. Students will encounter and examine quality literature through read-alouds, reading groups, and novel studies. Middle school students will broaden their perspectives by reading deeply and charitably, reasoning critically, and rigorously evaluating literature from a variety of genres and themes. Students will articulate written expression through wisdom and eloquence, utilizing the process of writing, conventional grammar, style, and genre grounded in a Biblical worldview.

MATHEMATICS
A Biblically immersed math curriculum equips students to think critically, solve complex problems, and understand God’s order and precision found in creation. Students will apply math to life applicable problems, serving others and demonstrating Biblical principles of the stewardship of God’s gifts and resources. Students will master mathematical concepts through direct instruction, practice, modeling, and repetition. Collaboration and project-based learning will allow students to apply mathematical thinking to real-world situations, utilizing inquiry and creativity to solve problems. Students will be compassionate contributors who are grateful in attitude and generous in action, recognizing that all they have is a gift from God and is to be used for His glory alone.

HISTORY
History is the study of God’s story. A Biblical worldview of history explains God’s providential directing of human affairs, with an understanding of significant historical themes and events. From the beginning of creation, through the fall of mankind, and unto the revealing of God’s plan for redemption and restoration through Jesus Christ, students will study history sequentially, utilizing timelines to gain an integrated perspective of the Bible and history. Students will then examine the history of America as a nation founded on Biblical principles and whose story is still unfolding. With truth and grace, students will engage lovingly with different cultures, viewpoints, and ideas, to influence the culture for Christ as servant leaders and community builders.

SCIENCE
The study of science reveals God’s intricate design and order found throughout creation. Being lovers of God, students will delight in the world He has made. Through observation and investigation, students will engage creation with awe and wonder, demonstrating humble stewardship of God’s gifts and resources. As truth seekers and truth speakers, students will discern Biblical truths from falsehood, engaging in apologetic discussion of alternate worldviews. With boldness, humility, and compassion, students will uncompromisingly proclaim the truth of God’s Word. Students will articulate and explain how the Bible develops the themes of creation, fall, redemption, and restoration and how these inform one’s understanding of the sciences.

CCA assesses students to ensure they are challenged academically, employing  IOWA Assessments and iReady diagnostics tests in order to find out where our students are and how we can help them get to the level they are need to be.  All CCA classes, from kindergarten to high school, will follow an established curriculum and utilize supplemental resources to enhance the educational experience for CCA students.  Even though we emphasize academic excellence, our curriculum is not designed to merely be college preparatory curriculum, but that we prepare students to become all  God calls them to be. While some students might pursue a college degree before entering the workforce, some will pursue a non-college track career. CCA curriculum is robust enough to accommodate the two different tracks.
